Break_dancing is yet another form of expression in both Hip-Hop and the dance world. It's origins can be traced back all the way to African tribal dances. It first showed up in America in New York City in the 1960's. Africa Bambaataa founded The Kings. The Kings were the first crew, who were part of a bigger group who held graffiti artists and MC's, called Zulu Nation. Discrepancies were solved through dance battles instead of violence. Break dancing was at its height when the Rock Steady Crew was breaking in the subways of NYC. Now break_dancing is world wide. There is an annual world wide battle called the Battle of the Year, that takes place in Germany. Crews from 18 nations battle it out to see who the best crew in the world is. The documentary "Planet B-Boy" documents one year of the battle and what the crews go through to get there. If interested look it up, its a good movie. Here is a video of the best moments in the history of this event.
